Shadows

She stood there near the meadows
Her eyes glued up onto the crawling shadows

The sky was heavy with a huge army of clouds
Perhaps all that was needed was the lauds

The wind was moving on the double than swelter
She scurried fast to the nearest manmade shelter

A goat was tethered to a bamboo alongside a cow
They both were given some fresh hay to mow

There was an old man and the lemur watching the fields
Their brow reflected their concern over the months yields

Suddenly the big thunder scared them all
A mighty palm was tired and all set to fall

The intensity was even bigger and towards the dam
Huts were at stake as there was no prior warning damn

The crops had begun to witness the blossoming new leaves
When Mother Nature struck them hard with deep grieves

The water gushed through the canals furiously
She watched her favorite toy ‘Joyie’ floating curiously

The rain slowed and calmed. The girl saw the shadows disappear.
